The FOC UK, Charity Draw
The FoC UK, Charity Draw Event took place on the 4th June 2021, at the the HIgh Commission of Sri Lanka, Hyde Park London. UK. Her Excellency, Mrs Saroja Sirisena, the Sri Lanka High Commissioner, graced the occasion with her presence. Also present were FoC Executive Committee Members as well as, the Sri Lanka High Commission Counsellor Staff. The event commenced at 7pm with a welcoming speech from the FoC Media Chairman. He thanked the High Commissioner for agreeing to have this event at the High Commission and for her assistance and the presence. He thanked all others for their attendance. In his speech, he briefed, on the history of the FoC, plus the current status of the Organisation. He went on to highlight the significant and timely FoC donation of infusions, Inhalers, late 2020, to the IDH Sri Lanka, at a critical time, to assist with combating COVID-19, to Save Lives, bring relief to those affected. Additionally, mentioned the donations to other beneficiary Charities. He concluded, thanking everyone, who bought Raffle tickets, and those making donations for the prizes. HE Mrs Sirisena, gave a speech welcoming the FoC Members, to the SL High Commission. She mentioned the valuable input of the FoC over the long past years, for the Cohesion of the Sri Lankan Community, in the UK, as well as providing an annual platform for Sri Lankan’s to meet up socially, on a sports arena, to enjoy a happy and fulfilling day. For the main event, HE Mrs Sirisena, drew the ticket for the first prize. The winning tickets for the other prizes were, earlier drawn by a selection of Members of the FoC and Counsellor staff. The final item on the evening’s agenda, was the Launch of the New FoC Website, for which the High Commissioner, again obliged, and on request, pressed a key, to do so. Thereafter, was some informal socialising, where everyone had an opportunity to meet and greet the High Commissioner.
